It’s getting a bit cold out there and we all know the boots and coats are going to be coming out soon, store catalogues have started to change accomodating the new season as well and YOU cannot wait to buy new winter clothes! Sis, what happened to last winter’s clothes??

Let that sink in for a bit….

Okay, let’s continue….So every winter season, you buy a new pair of boots, a new coat, new polo necks and throws. WHY do you do that?

Today, I am going to answer that question for you. So the answer is either one of these 2. It could be that you want to always stay on trend in terms on seasonal colors and style every cold season or last season’s items are no longer in good shape.

Let’s talk about the 1st possibility.

Let’s get into the tea….

Trend Chasing

There is nothing wrong with staying on-trend and keeping up, just as long as it’s budgeted for. If you are an impulse buyer then it can be a bit tricky I know. One of the best ways to deal with this is to find your style. For some it takes years and for others, it can be quite easy. Knowing your style and preferences helps you to tone down on the trend hopping because some trends will simply not cater to your style.

Secondly, Once you figure out your style, you can wear an item for more than 3 seasons and you can do you shopping once in 3 years and not EVERY SINGLE year. We both know your pocket will love that.

Quantity Over Quality

This can be a blessing and a curse, on one hand, you are the queen of sales toward the end of winter, there picking out the last of the best sellers as you are already thinking about next winter. On the other hand….you are just taking it all because its a SALE! 50% off ..what a bargain but you are totally ignoring the quality inspection.

As a result, you end up with jerseys and coats that aren’t really good quality, they become loose after 2 wears, the coats shift shape and wow, it’s just a mess.

Your solution? Rather buy one item that costs more but of better quality. So for example, if 100 usually gets you 2 jackets at low-end store A, rather use that 100 at higher-end store B to get you 1 jacket that way better in quality. You will be able to wear it for years better than those 2 jackets that would have been for 1 season.

Easier said than done. I know but it’s better to start cultivating that habit now. When you start doing the above, you will find yourself buying less stuff every winter because you already have gems in your closet. Here and there you can purchase items but it won’t be leaving a dent in your budget.

I am going to let you guys marinate in that for this week and next week I will be sharing items essentials that you need for winter.

In the meantime do engage with me in the comments if you have any questions or suggestions for the sisters so they stop this habit of buying so much every winter season!

So Much Love…

Els
