Sustainable living has been one of my intentions from this year going forward and I am making an effort to be a better steward. Whether it’s carrying a cloth bag to the grocery store to avoid buying plastic bags or separating my trash… non-perishables from perishable; I always try my best.

I recently got the opportunity to collaborate with a friend, Leo who is also a creative and the CEO of Power Afrika a company that designs smart cities and homes. This was a project that they want to venture into by curating furniture and putting together pieces that have had another life as something else to create stunning pieces of furniture.

If that coffee table made from repurposed glass and an old tree stump doesn’t catch your eye, I don’t know what will.

My role in this was to be a model in sustainable fashion and to help curate the set. This was right up my alley as you all know I run an online thrift store. I carefully curate a few looks which we shot. It was also important for me to be in my natural hair because I feel the most beautiful when I wear it out.

I have decided to share this work in all its beauty, I would say it deserves a magazine spread if I do say so myself!

In my power suit, a hand me down from my older sister. Music and tea are also two of my favorite things.

In their past life, the floating shelves were trusses!

In all honesty, this was a very fun project for me, a collaboration I was so passionate about. The intention was to tell a story and show that we can always be sustanable in so many ways. Sustainability is style.

What are your thoughts on sustainable furniture, did any of the pieces speak to you?

So Much Love…

Elsie
